Hotusa Hotels has just added to its portfolio of associated hotels the Chumbera Azul, literally the “Blue Prickly Pear”, the first establishment in Spain built entirely with natural materials, bioclimatic criteria and energy-saving systems. Respect for the environment is a criterion ever more present in our society and for this reason Hotusa Hotels has plans to continue supporting the inclusion of this type of establishment, both in Spain and at international level.
The Chumbera Azul Hotel, which has just opened its doors to the public, is located 50 Kms. from Cadiz, in rural, mountainous surroundings, overlooking the coast, between the localities of Verjer and Conil de la Frontera. The Chumbera Azul can be defined as an eco-friendly hotel for its concept of adaptation to the landscape, because of its maximum respect for the environment and because all the materials used, whether in the actual building or in the conditioning, are sustainable and favour the biodiversity of the area.
The building, in order to adapt to the surroundings, is in the form of tiers, respecting the hillside on which it is set and half-buried, for the purpose of achieving the best acclimatization, in addition to being situated so as to make the best use possible of the hours of sunlight. The building is made entirely of wood, natural brick and stone and is insulated with cork.
Another feature of this hotel is the bill that is given at the end of each stay and states the individual power consumption, informing if one has consumed more or less than the reasonable average.
The Chumbera Azul provides 19 guest rooms, all with sea views, plus four houses. Each house has two rooms with bathrooms, a spacious lounge, a porch, a garden and a charming courtyard for exclusive, personal use. As well as guaranteeing respect for the environment, the hotel offers full comfort and the most up-to-date technological features: Jacuzzi bath, 21” plasma screen, broadband connection, acoustic insulation and remote-controlled temperature, humidity, sun protection and automatic door and window operation.
The hotel offer is completed with a restaurant providing ecologic cuisine, under the direction of prestigious chef from Jerez, Manuel Valencia and in which only natural or certified products from our own farms and gardens are used.
